This is BayShop's comparison of natural latex mattresses against hybrid mattresses, using our SYMFONI range as the latex example and Origin's range as the hybrid example. Where we cite specific prices or specs, we compare our SYMFONI TD 10 against Origin's Hybrid Pro. All claims are sourced.

BayShop and Origin Mattress make very different mattresses.

BayShop's are 100% natural latex, made in our Singapore factory.

Origin's are hybrids, which typically combine polyurethane foam, pocket springs, latex, and a cooling gel layer.

Those differences carry through to price, construction, certifications, warranty and buying experience all compared below using each brand's own product specs and public Google reviews as of May 2026.

What are BayShop and Origin mattresses made of?

BayShop's SYMFONI® mattresses are made entirely of natural latex. Origin's flagship Hybrid Pro combines one latex layer with pocketed steel springs, polyurethane foam, and a cooling gel layer. Different constructions, different trade-offs.

What Is Inside a BayShop SYMFONI® TD 10 Mattress?

BayShop's SYMFONI® TD 10 is 100% natural latex. That's the entire mattress, not just one layer.

The latex is sourced from Sri Lanka, processed using the Dunlop method, and assembled in BayShop's own Singapore factory. There is nothing else inside because it's not needed. No springs to wear out. No foam to break down. No glue holding mismatched materials together.

The SYMFONI® TD 10 includes:

  • A 25 cm core built from three natural latex layers (firm + medium + SYMFONI® latex topper)

  • 7-zone ergonomic support built into the latex itself

  • Dual-firmness design you can flip for firm or medium

  • Open-cell structure and pinholes for natural breathability

  • Removable, washable Tencel cover

What Is Inside a Origin Hybrid Pro Mattress?

Origin's Hybrid Pro is a 9-layer hybrid mattress that's 31 cm tall. If you take away the trademark names for each layer, you'll find the layers consist of polyurethane foam, memory foam, and pocket springs, with one thin natural latex layer infused with graphite.

Every layer does something the layer below it can't.

  • Polyurethane foam traps heat, so cooling gel and graphite are added to help cool it down.

  • Foam softens and dents over time, so steel pocket springs hold up the support.

  • Foam can release chemicals into the air (called off-gassing).

    • Origin uses CertiPUR-US foam, which sets a safety floor for banned chemicals and limits VOC emissions. The certification doesn't make the foam off-gas-free. It just keeps the off-gassing under a defined limit.

The Origin Hybrid Pro includes:

  • Tencel pillowtop cover

  • Natural wool layer

  • CryoFlex foam™. This layer is polyurethane foam mixed with cooling gel.

    • It feels cool when you first lie down because the gel absorbs your initial body heat. Once the gel warms up to your body temperature, the cooling may fade and the foam underneath traps heat for the rest of the night (Sleep Foundation).

  • GraphiteCool latex™. One thin layer of natural latex with graphite mixed in.

    • Latex is already naturally cooling on its own. Adding graphite makes more sense in a hybrid mattress like this one, where heat-trapping foam sits above the latex layer.

  • HexaGrid™ orthopaedic foam grid

  • AirSpring microcoils

  • CloudForm memory foam. Memory foam softens and develops body impressions over time (Polymer Testing).

    • A 2022 study in Chemosphere also found that new memory foam mattresses release chemicals like toluene and acetone (the "new mattress smell") in the first weeks of use.

  • ErgoCoil™ 7-zone pocket springs. The base of the mattress. Pocket springs do give you good support and let air flow through. But they wear out with use.

How Do BayShop and Origin Compare on Price?

BayShop's SYMFONI 10" (Queen) is S$2,780, the same price for both Queen sizes (152 x 190 cm and 152 x 200 cm).

Origin's Hybrid Pro (Queen) is S$2,621 for 152 x 190 cm and S$2,885 for 152 x 200 cm.

At list price, the two mattresses are within a few percent of each other. At the larger Queen size, BayShop is actually the cheaper of the two.

They're still in two different mattress categories though, with very different materials and build quality.

What Do Hybrid Mattresses Actually Cost in Singapore?

Most hybrid mattresses in Singapore have an original price between S$700 and S$2,700, depending on brand and build.

Examples (original prices for Hybrid Queen):

  • IKEA: S$699

  • Azure Cool Hybrid: S$1,099

  • Zinus: S$1,179 to S$2,129

  • Snow Slumber: S$2,747

At S$2,621 to S$2,885, Origin's flagship Hybrid Pro sits well above the typical hybrid price range. It's priced at the premium end of the hybrid category in Singapore.

Origin runs frequent promotional sales on the Hybrid Pro, displaying the discounted price alongside the list price. This pricing pattern is called, a marketing tactic where a higher reference price is shown next to a lower sale price to make the discount feel more significant. Origin's Hybrid Pro sale prices fluctuate across promotions, so original list prices are the most reliable comparison point.

What Are Hybrid Mattresses Almost Always On Sale in Singapore?

Those original prices are rarely what buyers actually pay. Brands like Origin, Zinus, and Snow Slumber use anchor pricing, where the displayed original price sits considerably higher than the typical sale price.

Examples of anchor pricing:

  • Zinus 10" Queen latex hybrid: original price S$2,120, sale S$499 (76% off)

  • Snow Luxury Hybrid Queen: original price S$3,247.50, sale S$1,499 (54% off)

  • Origin Hybrid Pro Queen: original price S$2,621-S$2,885, with frequent sale promotions

The effective price most buyers pay is almost always the sale price, not the original price. The original price functions as a reference anchor that makes the discount feel much more significant.

What Do All-Natural Latex Mattresses Cost in Singapore?

BayShop’s SYMFONI TD10 (Queen) is S$2,780, which is standard for an all-natural latex mattress, not a hybrid.

You’re paying for:

  • 100% natural latex throughout the mattress

  • Breathability and cooler sleep

  • Consistent head-to-toe support

  • Made in Singapore

  • Ability to test and exchange

Within the all natural latex category, BayShop is on the more affordable end. Brands like Heveya sell Queen and King mattress sizes for S$4,088 to S$6,888.

What Mattress Certifications Do BayShop and Origin Have?

BayShop’s latex and cover materials are backed by recognized third-party certifications (including eco-INSTITUT and OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100 Class I).

Origin Mattress has CertiPUR-US® certification for its polyurethane foam layers only. On the Origin Singapore website, there are no latex specific certifications listed for the latex layer.

What Mattress Certifications Does BayShop Have?

BayShop’s SYMFONI® latex and cover materials have the following mattress certifications:

What it tests

eco-INSTITUT (Germany)

Tests for low emissions and harmful substances, including VOCs and certain chemical residues.

OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100 (Class I)

Tests for harmful substances in textiles. Class I is the strictest level, designed for babies and sensitive skin.

TÜV Rheinland

Tests durability through repeated compression, including 60,000 compression cycles, to simulate long-term use and resistance to sagging.

What Mattress Certifications Does Origin Singapore Have?

Origin has CertiPUR-US® certification, which covers its polyurethane foam (CryoFlex foam™).

The certification doesn't make the foam off-gas-free. It just keeps the off-gassing under a defined limit.

It does not test latex, springs, or the finished mattress. Origin's Singapore website lists no certifications for the latex layer. No eco-INSTITUT, no OEKO-TEX.

Is Origin's Latex Really 100% Natural?

Origin Singapore describes the latex layer in their Hybrid Pro as "100% Natural Latex."

There's a contradiction in how Origin describes this layer though. Origin also calls it "100% natural latex infused with graphite crystals." Both descriptions can't be true at the same time. A layer that is 100% natural latex contains nothing else. A layer with graphite mixed in is latex plus a mineral additive.

On their Singapore website, there is no third-party certification mentioned that verifies the latex purity or latex content.

This doesn't prove the latex isn't natural. It just means you're relying on Origin's own marketing description rather than independent verification, and the marketing description doesn't internally agree with itself. For buyers who specifically want pure, unblended natural latex, that distinction matters.

How Do BayShop and Origin Showrooms Compare?

BayShop: Private 45-minute Sleep Studio session by appointment at 14 Arumugam Road, Singapore. Every session is run by a natural latex mattress expert. You test both firmness sides of the mattresses and get a real feel of natural latex. You can ask any question about materials, certifications, or warranty terms.

Origin: Walk-in showroom, 7 days a week, no appointment required. You can try the models on display. It's not a private appointment, so expect other shoppers to be there as well. Similar in style to Zinus and other high-volume mattress retailers.

The two models suit different buyers. Walk-in is convenient for quick browsing or comparing multiple brands in one trip. Private appointments are designed for buyers who want focused time with someone who can answer materials, certifications, and warranty questions in detail.

What is the Return Policy for BayShop and Origin in Singapore?

BayShop SYMFONI® offers a 60-day firmness exchange on the SYMFONI® TD 8 and TD 10 models. If the firmness isn’t right, you can swap it for a softer or firmer option.

Origin Hybrid Pro offers a 120-night trial with full refund and free pickup. You must sleep on the mattress for at least 25 nights before you can request a return.

Finally Origin has replaced it under warranty and I hope this one is good" — Chetan, May 2026

How Do BayShop and Origin Warranties Compare?

Origin offers a 15-year warranty. BayShop offers a 10-year warranty. On paper, Origin's is 5 years longer. The difference between the two shows up when you look at how each brand handles the pro-rate schedule.

A warranty's length only tells you the maximum coverage window. What actually matters is what percentage of the cost the brand covers in each year of that window, the pro-rate schedule.

What Does BayShop’s Warranty Cover?

BayShop covers visible indentations (sagging) in the latex core that measure:

  • 1 inch (2.5 cm) or more, or

  • more than 20% of the mattress's original height

It also covers cracks or splits that affect structural integrity.

BayShop publishes its pro-rate schedule openly:

  • Year 2: 90% covered

  • Year 5: 50% covered

  • Year 10: 10% covered

You know exactly what coverage looks like at every point in the 10-year window before you ever buy.

What Does Origin’s Warranty Cover in Singapore?

Origin's 15-year warranty covers manufacturing defects on the Hybrid Pro, including sagging beyond 1 inch and physical or structural flaws that cause the foam to split or crack.

The warranty excludes a "normal increase in softness of the foams" that doesn't affect pressure-relieving properties. Polyurethane foam softens naturally with use. Since softening doesn't always show up as a measurable 1-inch sag, this kind of wear isn't covered, even within the 15-year warranty window.

Origin does not publish its pro-rate schedule on its Singapore website. The coverage breakdown across Years 2 through 15 is not visible to buyers without contacting Origin directly.

Which Mattress Brand Is Right for You?

Quick verdict: BayShop is the better fit for buyers prioritizing 100% natural latex, transparent warranty coverage, excellent customer experience, and natural materials for breathability in Singapore's humid climate. Origin Hybrid Pro is the better fit for buyers wanting a long in-home trial with refund, walk-in showroom convenience, and the appeal of branded technologies like cooling gel, graphite-infused layers, and proprietary foam blends.

Origin might work for you if:

  • You want an in-home trial with a full refund safety net (120 nights)

  • You prefer being able to walk in to a showroom 7 days a week without booking

  • You want a hybrid feel — pocket springs combined with foam layers and a thin latex layer

  • You're comfortable buying a mattress online and testing it at home rather than in person before purchase

  • 15-year warranty length on paper matters more to you than knowing the pro-rate breakdown

  • You're okay with a 9-layer hybrid construction (polyurethane foam, memory foam, and pocket springs) rather than a single material throughout

BayShop is a better fit if:

  • You want a 100% natural latex mattress like BayShop's SYMFONI® TD 10, with no foam, no springs, no synthetic layers.

  • You care about latex sourcing (Sri Lanka) and want to support a Singapore-based brand that manufactures its mattresses locally in Ubi.

  • You want third-party certifications that cover the entire mattress. BayShop holds eco-INSTITUT, OEKO-TEX Class 1, and TÜV Rheinland, not just a foam-only standard like CertiPUR-US.

  • You'd rather test the mattress in person at BayShop's Sleep Studio. The private 45-minute session gives you focused time to ask any question before you commit.

  • You want a transparent warranty with a published pro-rate schedule. BayShop publishes 90% in Year 2, 50% in Year 5, 10% in Year 10, so you know exactly what coverage you have in every year.

  • You want 7-zone ergonomic support built into the latex itself, the way BayShop constructs SYMFONI®, not stacked as a separate foam layer.

  • You want a mattress built for long-term durability. BayShop's SYMFONI® is independently tested through 60,000 compression cycles by TÜV Rheinland.

  • You want a mattress that's naturally breathable through its open-cell structure. BayShop's all-latex construction is particularly well-suited to Singapore's humid climate, where heat-trapping foam can make hot, sticky sleep worse.

  • You need a custom mattress size for an HDB bed frame, condo bunk bed, or yacht. BayShop makes mattresses to measure. Origin offers standard sizes only.
